A tornado watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday for most of southern Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service in Sullivan.
The watch covers the following counties: Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Waukesha, Jefferson, Walworth, Dane, Grant, Green, Iowa and Lafayette counties. A tornado watch, which is less serious than a warning, means conditions exist to create a tornado.
The weather service is predicting scattered thunderstorms across the region this afternoon and evening. It said a few may be severe, producing hail to one inch and wind gusts up to 60 mph.
